Steelers Podcast: Are the Steelers standing in line for the elevator or the roller coaster? The Pittsburgh Steelers' 2018 roller coaster ride got a whole lot less bumpier with the impressive win over Atlanta on Sunday. But with their bipolar 2018 season five weeks old Pittsburgh Steelers T-Shirt , one must wonder if the ride smooths out going forward or if it will remain as Pothole City. BTSC’s Bryan Anthony Davis and Anthony Defeo took a day to recover from their joy and asked your opinion of the terrain ahead in the latest edition of “Steelers Hangover."Take a look at the rundown for the latest episode of the call-in extravaganza. After the Steelers lost to the Ravens last Sunday night, it was noted that wide receiver Antonio Brown and quarterback Ben Roethlisberger weren’t talking on the sideline while the team was going scoreless in the second half.Given the focus that’s been on their relationship during Pittsburgh’s 1-2-1 start, that was enough for some to infer that there was an issue between the two players. Brown said Friday that he and Roethlisberger laughed about attempts to “create adversity and distractions,” but he did admit that things aren’t always flowing perfectly between the two of them.“It’s like Wi-Fi Pittsburgh Steelers Hoodie , you know,” Brown said, via ESPN.com. “Sometimes the connection is poor. Sometimes the connection is great. But it’s always connected.”Brown’s averaging under 10 yards a catch, which would be the lowest figure in his career, but remains confident that he and Roethlisberger “will make our plays.” The Falcons defense has been giving in that regard so far this season Customized Pittsburgh Steelers Jerseys , which may give Brown and Roethlisberger a chance to stream at a high speed this Sunday. There are only two things I can't stand in this world. People who hate other people they don’t really know and Philip Rivers.Speaking of Rivers Alejandro Villanueva Jersey , the Chargers quarterback, NC State alum and a person who was so heavily coveted by former Steelers head coach—and fellow NC State alum—Bill Cowher leading up to the 2004 NFL Draft, Cowher almost did the unthinkable and not draft Ben Roethlisberger after Rivers went fourth, overall, I actually found myself cheering for him several times down the stretch of the 2018 regular season and into the playoffs. Why would I do something so disgusting, so against my moral fiber? Rivers is just so darn obnoxious, a person who called LaMarr Woodley fat before Steelers fans thought it fashionable to do so. Even an ex girlfriend of mine, someone who once thought a Pirate hit an inside the park home run because the ball went off the foul pole and landed back on the grass of PNC Park, knew of my contempt for Rivers way back in the day—”Rivers, isn’t that the quarterback you really hate, honey?” Yes, my dear, it was....and still is.So http://www.steelerscheapshops.com/cheap-authentic-jon-bostic-jersey , again, why would I allow myself to root for such a man? Simple: Rivers played a huge role in two things Steelers fans find near and dear to their hearts: the Steelers making the playoffs and the Patriots not winning the Super Bowl.As Pittsburgh struggled down the stretch of the regular season, I think most fans took comfort in knowing the Ravens, the team closing in fast on first place in the AFC North, had road games remaining against both the Chiefs and Chargers to close out the year. Two weeks after narrowly losing at Kansas City in overtime, the Ravens found themselves in Los Angeles to take on a Chargers team that had just defeated the Chiefs at Arrowhead and had a legit chance at the number one seed in the AFC. The game took place on the night of December 22, 2018. It was a Saturday, and I was having some beers with a friend at Riley’s Pour House in Carnegie. I was so nervous about this game, I didn’t even allow myself to look up at the screen and hoped my fellow Steelers fans sitting at the bar wouldn’t ruin the evening with bad news. They did. You know what they said? “I love how the Chargers have no interest in beating the Ravens and helping the Steelers out.” Yeah, because the Chargers would much rather go into the playoffs as the fifth seed, have no home games at all and play three weeks in a row just to make it to the Super Bowl than have to deal with those totally dangerous—except against the Raiders—Steelers in the postseason. Moving on.After the Ravens defeated Los Angeles and Pittsburgh lost to the Saints the next day, I finally accepted that the handwriting was on the wall with regards to the Steelers making the playoffs (well, there was that strange week when I and many other Steelers fans rooted for the Browns). But the consolation prize was cheering on the Chargers in the playoffs for some reason Cheap Artie Burns Jersey , mainly because they were taking on the Ravens and Patriots in back-to-back games. As I watched Los Angeles easily dispose of the Ravens at M&T Bank Stadium on Wildcard Weekend (hmmm, maybe there was something to that whole not wanting the Steelers in the playoffs theory, after all), I found myself screaming things like, “Come on, that was roughing the passer, ref!!!!” And the quarterback I was sticking up for wasn’t Big Ben, it was Philip freakin’ Rivers. Last week, I enlisted Rivers help in taking care ofthe seemingly annual task of preventing New England from capturing a sixth Lombardi trophy, thus allowingSteelers fans to continue to win most Internet arguments. Unfortunately, Rivers and the rest of the Chargers played so terribly against the Patriots in the divisional round at Gillette Stadium, my friend got disgusted at halftime and made me watch a show called Fringe (that Anna Torv is a real looker). Now I feel gross, gross for cheering for a man I’ve always had contempt for.Never again http://www.steelerscheapshops.com/cheap-authentic-bud-dupree-jersey , never again will I do such a thing....unless it helps the Steelers make the playoffs in 2019, of course.Steelers Podcast: Discussing the tie which feels like a big fat loss The Pittsburgh Steelers are finally playing games that actually count! The Redskins walked away Sunday afternoon with a big win at home against a very good Panthers team. It may not have been the prettiest win you’ll ever see http:///...mison-crowder-jersey , but I’ll take a W any way I can get it. The Skins now sit atop the NFC East with a 3-2 record, and enter a stretch of the season that will see them play five key division games over the next eight weeks. Below are my Studs and Duds of Sunday’s contest against the Panthers with some added video for your viewing pleasure. Studs:Adrian Peterson - Father Time has certainly not yet caught up to AP. The 33 year old warrior, who was battling a shoulder and knee injury, carried 17 times for 97 yards (a 5.7 YPC average). Most mortals would have sat this one out, but not Peterson, who despite having to have a staffer removed his pads for him because his shoulder was so sore he could barely lift his arm, still looked to run over Youth Da'Ron Payne Jersey , around and through the Panthers stout defense. Vernon Davis - Another one who Father Times has yet to lay a finger on, Davis caught three passes for a team high 48 yards and a touchdown early on. Jordan Reed - Reed made some great receptions on the afternoon, but none was better than his sick one-handed stab on a pass in the middle that was high and behind him. He led all receivers with five receptions and chipped in 36 yards. Chase Roullier - Man does this kid move well in space! The line may not yet be 100 percent in sync in pass protection, but when they ask Chase to pull, trap, seal at the second level and led plays out in space, the guy is a beast!Josh Norman - Playing against his former team brought out the best in Norman Sunday. He had his first interception since 2016 Youth Jordan Reed Jersey , and forced a fumble which the Redskins recovered. His coverage and tackling were very solid on the afternoon. Maybe Jay Gruden needs to yell at him at halftime of games more often!D.J. Swearinger - Swearinger led all Redskins defenders in tackles, while also adding a sack (which also forced a fumble that a Panthers linemen recovered), and two quarterback hits. He nearly recorded a safety on a hit at the end of the second quarter on Newton in the endzone where it looked like he was shot out of a cannon. Daron Payne - The box score may not show it, but Payne was a disruptive force on the afternoon. He was recognizing and chasing down screens (one to Olsen 10 yards down the field), and it was his pressure in the face of Cam Newton early in the second quarter that forced the under-throw that Norman intercepted. Preston Smith - This will go un-noticed in the box score as well, but I thought Preston Smith did a nice job getting multiple pressures on Cam Newton; especially later on in the game. He may have not gotten any sacks, but his hurries forced some early and off-target throws. Brian Quick - This guy was great on special teams White Josh Doctson Jersey , helping down two Tress Way punts inside the six yard line. He also caught two passes for 12 yards (both of which went for key first downs) and blocked well on the perimeter. Dustin Hopkins - Hopkins went three for three on his field goal attempts, his longest from 56 yards, and made both of his extra points. To call him clutch yesterday would be an understatement. Duds:Morgan Moses - Moses committed a bad hold in the beginning of the fourth quarter that negated a big Peterson run up the gut that would have given the Redskins the ball at the Panthers 25. Two plays later his defender got free and blasted Smith causing a fumble which Trent Williams recovered. Luckily, Hopkins still converted the long field goal. Moses was not particularly sharp on run blocking or pass pro on the afternoon. Mason Foster - This may be nit-picking a bit, but I thought Foster struggled in coverage against Olsen and McCaffrey. It’s probably not fair to ask him to cover either one-on-one, but that’s often the responsibilities of an inside linebacker on passing downs. I didn’t particularly like the play down by the goal line where Newton scrambled, and Foster stood like a statue waiting for him; then got run over. On the bright side Matthew Ioannidis Jersey , he did hustle downfield and recovered the fumble Norman knocked loose. Quinton Dunbar - Dunbar was picked on by Cam Newton all day in coverage, and he showed Cam absolutely no reason NOT to target him. He was matched up a lot against Funchess who had a nice leaping touchdown over Quinton after he bit on a double move and lost his man deep. He also missed a few tackles on the afternoon. Not his best outing. Bill Callahan - It may be time to devote an entire weeks worth of practice to teaching the linemen how to handle stunts and twists! This is getting ridiculous! Mini-Stud:Josh Doctson - I did say last week that if Josh Doctson ran a route this week, I’d list him as a stud. Well, not only did he run a route, he caught three passes for 20 yards! What I liked from Josh is that he attacked the ball in the air and caught it with his hands. You could see the guy was hurting after every tackle. For him, this game merits Mini-Stud status!Misc.; It may not be pretty, but the Redskins continue to maintain some distance (albeit with some help from in-fighting between division rivals) from the rest of the pack in the NFC East. No bones about it Authentic Adrian Peterson Jersey , their win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers was ugly and is a performance that they can likely ill-afford to replicate on both sides of the football if they expect to come away with more wins, but ultimately the numbers in the leftmost column are more than the one on the right and that’s all that matters. This week on the Audible we try to answer the unanswerable question: who are the 2018 Washington Redskins? An overachieving bunch that’s playing above their talent level? A group that rises to the occasion and find ways to win ugly? The lucky beneficiaries of a weak schedule? Or perhaps some of all of the above? On a programmatic note, we’ve made a clean break and are henceforth officially migrating our live video broadcast of The Audible (both After The Whistle and when seasonally appropriate, Offseason On The Brink) from 1st Amendment Sports YouTube channel. Regardless if Alex does attempt to make a return to the playing field, the Redskins need to start planning for the future at the position. Lock offers the team a prototype quarterback with plus size, a cannon for an arm and sneaky athleticism (he held D1 scholarship offers for basketball coming out of high school). He may have to sit and learn for a while behind a veteran like Colt McCoy, but his development is much further along than many draft pundits are giving him credit for. The New York Giants lost their fifth game in just six tries on Thursday night Authentic Saquon Barkley Jersey , being dismantled by the Philadelphia Eagles at home, 34-13. With the 2019 season looking just about over, let's change up our weekly look at NFL power rankings power rankings and focus on how the Giants are positioned for the 2019 NFL Draft. Following the Week 6 loss to the Eagles, the Giants are tied for the worst record in football. Because of a tiebreaker with the Oakland Raiders, Arizona Cardinals and San Fransisco 49ers, the Giants as of right now http://www.newyorkgiantsteamonline.com/saquon-barkley-jersey , have the first selection in the 2019 NFL Draft. Tankathon.com comes out with its Draft Power Rankings every week, showing who holds the most value in next year’s draft. According to the rankings, the Giants have the second-most value as of right now. With a score of 3,736.0, the Giants just sit behind the Indianapolis Colts, who have a score of 4 http://www.newyorkgiantsteamonline.com/patrick-omameh-jersey ,046.0. Below is a look at how the top 10 stacks up. Tankathon uses the traditional trade value chart, which assigns a point value to each pick, to determine the rankings. The Giants forfeited their third-round pick by selecting cornerback Sam Beal in the Supplemental Draft.Tankathon also has the Giants selecting Oregon quarterback Justin Herbert with the No. 1 overall pick. Here is a round-by-round look at the Giants selections in next year’s draft as of today. New York Giants coach Pat Shurmur had a lot of explaining to do after Monday’s 23-20 loss to the Atlanta Falcons. Why did the Giants, trailing 23-12 and needing two scores, run back-to-back quarterback sneaks from the Atlanta 1-yard line, burning a full minute off the clock before a 1-yard touchdown pass from Eli Manning to Odell Beckham Jr. with :05 left?“From the 1-yard line there we gotta get it in. We didn’t http://www.newyorkgiantsteamonline.com/kareem-martin-jersey ,” he said. “You should be able to convert on a sneak. We’ve all seen him [Manning] do that. For whatever reason we didn’t get it done.”Why did he go for a two-point conversion when the Giants scored to pull within 20-12 with 4:47 to play, a move that failed when Odell Beckham Jr. couldn’t hold a Manning pass?“We discussed internally the math on that, I felt like we had a good play. I liked our two-point play selections and we just didn’t quite get it done,” he said. “I felt like I wanted to be aggressive for our guys.”Shurmur also had some clarification on his being caught saying something like “throw it to Odell” when Manning failed to do so and misfired on a first-half fourth-and-goal pass intended for Scott Simonson.“Initially I thought Odell had popped open from my view,” Shurmur said. “The coverage was probably a little tighter than what I had seen.”Whether you buy Shurmur’s explanations or not, these are just the kinds of things that go wrong on bad football teams. And the 1-6 Giants http://www.newyorkgiantsteamonline.com/aldrick-rosas-jersey , one of three NFL teams with just one victory in seven games, are a bad team. The Giants played hard. They simply didn’t always play well. The reconfigured offensive line couldn’t open holes for Saquon Barkley (14 carries, 43 yards, 3.1 yards per attempt), and couldn’t pass block much of the night as Manning was sacked four times. The defense got three sacks, but surrendered a 47-yard touchdown pass and a 30-yard scoring run.Shurmur tried some things. There were some jet sweeps http://www.newyorkgiantsteamonline.com/will-hernandez-jersey , including one to Barkley that failed on the Atlanta 1-yard line. He ran a reverse to tight end Evan Engram. The Giants tried to take shots, and hit some late in the game. The Giants failed on a fourth-and-goal.This is just what happens to bad teams. Seemingly no matter what they try it doesn’t turn our right. Then, the only thing that’s left is to try and explain where it all went wrong.Bottom line, that’s where the Giants are right now.

Giants roster move: LB Nate Stupar added Color Rush Kareem Martin Jersey , waive RB Robert Martin You are seriously going to need a scorecard to figure out who is playing for the New York Giants on Sunday vs. the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Giants are adding linebacker Nate Stupar, a move that comes just hours after it was learned that the team was adding defensive tackle John Jenkins and waiving Romeo Okwara. Stupar, 30, was a seventh-round pick by the Oakland Raiders in the 2012 NFL Draft. He has played for the Philadelphia Eagles, Jacksonville Jaguars, San Francisco 49ers, Atlanta Falcons and spent the last three seasons with the New Orleans Saints. Stupar, 6-foot-2, 240 pounds, played in only four games last season before landing on IR due to a torn ACL.The Giants have been extremely aggressive in trying to upgrade their depth since setting their initial 53-man roster at Saturday’s deadline. They were awarded six players on waivers and have now added Jenkins and Stupar. That makes 15 percent of the roster changed since it was initially announced.Stupar’s uncle is former Giants quarterback Jeff Hostetler. In a corresponding roster move, the Giants waived undrafted rookie running back Robert Martin. The Giants signed Martin as a UDFA out of Rutgers after an impressive showing at the Giants rookie minicamp. Martin continued to impress throughout training camp and the preseason. It wouldn't be a surprise to see him back with the team on their practice squad. The more the New York Giants lose the more questions that raises about the future and how the organization will try to dig itself out of the mess the team has gotten into. Let’s try and answer some of those questions in this week’s Big Blue View mailbag.Ed says: Rhett Ellison has a foot injury. I really don’t know how severe, or what the exact injury is. Here’s a question for you — don’t you think it’s kind of difficult to run two-tight end sets when you are running them with your third and fourth tight ends, or with a third-team tight end and a backup offensive lineman? Is that really the best personnel to put on the field?Let’s also remember that the best pass-catching tight end they have, Evan Engram, has missed three games with a knee injury. That affects the personnel groupings. For what it’s worth, through five weeks the Giants had used two tight ends 27 percent of the time, per Sharp Football Stats.Ed says: Well, Harper, look at it this way. You’ve been hanging in there since the Giants last won the Super Bowl and six of the last seven seasons have been bad. Enjoy watching Saquon Barkley. Look for signs of progress. Enjoy those, and hang onto them. Also Authentic Riley Dixon Jersey , remember this — the Giants have gotten this right and hoisted the Lombardi Trophy four times. No matter how bad it is right now, there are a lot of fan bases out there that would trade places with fans of the Giants in a heartbeat.David Clancy asks: Do you think this is a mess a rookie QB, like Drew Lock, can handle? Especially if he struggles early and Odell creates attention by telling all to Josina Anderson about how Lock is trash or Herbert might not be the future. Also how can a rookie develop while he’s constantly retreating from 350+ lb pieces of muscle who want to crush his ribs? That can ruin any rookie QB, no matter the talent.Ed says: If you are asking me about Lock specifically, I have no idea. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a single snap the kid has played. Go back to when Manning was a young quarterback. His receivers, especially Jeremy Shockey, caused him all sorts of grief and probably slowed his development. Eventually, the organization just chose the quarterback over the whiners. The quarterback is ALWAYS the most important player. If the organization, or the locker room, forgets that you have a problem. Right now, the Giants have a problem. If they eventually go with a youngster, the organization has to support him by stomping on, or removing trouble. As for the part about being crushed, that applies to old, immobile quarterbacks, too.Justin HerbertPhoto by Steve Dykes/Getty ImagesTom Mandler asks: With the Giants heading for a complete overhaul this offseason; what college QBs should we be watching, and what kind of building blocks could we reasonably expect if we traded Beckham (2 first round picks?).Ed says: As far as quarterbacks, the names you keep hearing are Justin Herbert (Oregon) and Drew Lock (Missouri). Trading Beckham? Not happening now, so I’m not even thinking about that. Co-host Patricia Traina said Friday on “Locked on Giants” that she doesn’t think Beckham finishes his contract with the Giants Youth Evan Engram Jersey , and I agree, but I seriously doubt anyone is taking that contract until the fully-guaranteed money is paid after the 2020 season.Devon Aronstam asks: I am sure I am not the first to think of or mention this, but with all this talk of Eli being done, what about the idea of bringing in Colin Kaepernick? I’m no expert on how fans react and I know Mr. Mara has stated in the past how much mail he has received on this topic, but I would think Giants fans are desperate for better QB play and the team really doesn’t have a solid, veteran backup ready to step in. The bottom line is Eli and the Giants have only won 4 of their last 22 games. We are clearly not going anywhere this year and what a great opportunity to see if Kap has anything left after such a long layoff. If we remain terrible, we will most certainly get a high pick to take a new QB with. If he shows promise and we win a few games we can parlay a high pick into multiple picks to help rebuild o-line and pass rush. Thoughts?Ed says: I wasn’t going to take this question, because I didn’t really want to deal with the Kaepernick stuff. I need to, though. Colin Kaepernick is not the answer. First of all, he’s 30 and hasn’t played in two years. Second of all, and this is something that people seem to conveniently forget when they look at the reasons Kaepernick isn’t in the league, he wasn’t very good. He went 3-16 his last two seasons as a starter. In 2016, the San Francisco 49ers thought Blaine Gabbert — BLAINE GABBERT!! — was better, and he opened the season at quarterback. Despite all the politics of it, if any team out there thought Kaepernick was good enough to start and lead them to championships, they would have signed him.Colin Kaepernick is, maybe, a backup in the league at this point. He isn’t going to solve anyone’s quarterback problem. Also, how does Kaepernick help you parlay a high draft pick into multiple picks? Not sure I get how signing him, or anyone Landon Collins Jersey , would have anything to do with that.Anthony Del Genio asks: I‘ve been struggling (and maybe the BBV staff has been too) with how to separate the performance of the OL from that of the QB. In light of your column today, which I think is the first one in which I see you leaning toward Eli being the problem or part of it, I wonder whether there are any examples out there of great teams/QBs with terrible OLs. I’m especially interested in Russell Wilson (a great QB in my opinion and in the prime of his career) who seems to be having terrible problems this year (and you could see it last year too) behind one of the worst OLs in the NFL. His stats look pretty similar to Eli’s this season. Would putting a great mobile QB behind what is at present an awful Giants OL actually make much of a difference? Or are we going nowhere until the OL is fixed?Ed says: Anthony, Gettleman walked in the door saying the offensive line has to be fixed. It hasn’t been. Shurmur has said the Giants will go only as far as the offensive line can take them. So far, not very far. There are issues with the way Manning has played, certainly. Running quarterback or not, though, no team can play good, consistent offense without good offensive line play.Ed says: I don’t know that Tom Coughlin bringing Ereck Flowers to the Jacksonville Jaguars says anything about the 2015 draft. I think that what it says is the Jaguars think they they can win this season, they have lost their starting left tackle (Cam Robinson) for the season, they didn’t have a Plan B they were happy with, and Flowers — believe it or not — was the closest thing to a starting-caliber left tackle on the market right now.Ed says: “Fire sale?” Those might happen in baseball, but when is the last time you saw that happen in the NFL? You see individual trades, but not fire sales. I wouldn’t say any Giants are “likely” to be traded. I mean, the Giants are 4-18 in their last 22 games. How desirable are their players? Maybe Janoris Jenkins, but you’re not getting more than a late-round pick in return. Let’s not get started with Manning or Beckham trade talk. It’s just not realistic to think the Giants can suddenly sell off a bunch of players and get a bunch of top draft picks in return.

Robert Saleh explains Solomon Thomas workload Youth Adrian Colbert Jersey , why he did not play as many snaps in Week 1 The San Francisco 49ers have considerable depth along the defensive line, which provides for an extensive rotation throughout the game. In Week 1, defensive tackle Arik Armstead led the team with 59 snaps, which represented 83 percent of total defensive snaps. Defensive tackle DeForest Buckner followed him with 54 snaps and edge rusher Cassius Marsh was next with 39 snaps. Second year first round pick Solomon Thomas showed up next with 35 snaps.Thomas is one of the team’s starting defensive ends when they are in their basic 4-3 look, but his work in sub-packages was a little bit all over the place against the Vikings. Buckner plays inside on passing downs, and on Sunday, Armstead was the primary second defensive tackle in those situations. On Thursday, defensive coordinator Robert Saleh explained why we saw more of Armstead this past week. And his reference of “two six-foot-seven-trees” makes a ton of sense. What’s the plan then with Thomas? Saleh was asked if the plan was to have him play primarily on first and second downs.Saleh is still confident in Thomas, and citing his strong run game work.Thomas’ best plays usually have come in run defense. It feels like we see him each week shooting into the backfield for a solid run stop. It does not happen with regularity in a given game, but that’s where he seems to make his bones. It’s not exactly ideal performance from the second overall pick, but it is an area where he has success. The 49ers will need to get pressure on Matthew Stafford this weekend. He struggled with accuracy last week, but that came in spite of the New York Jets not getting all that much pressure on him. If the 49ers struggled to get pressure on Stafford, I don’t think we see a similar performance from the Lions quarterback. Pressure will be key to shaking him up, and they need Thomas to add to the mix.49ers fantasy football pick-ups Womens Mike McGlinchey Jersey , drops for Week 3 Boy fantasy can be maddening. Last week we told you to pick up George Kittle, then he took the backseat to Garrett Celek for a touchdown. A more quiet game may have you itching to drop him immediately, but one bad gameis no reason to get rid of him, Kittle will get his this season and even his game Sunday was better than Travis Kelce’s Week 1 outing. Regardless, we are onto Week 3 with some possible pickups and additions to our fool’s gold list Percentage owned numbers are based on Yahoo! leagues.Pick-upsMatt Breida % Owned: 61Week 2 stats: 11 carries, 128 yards; 3 receptions, 22 yardsLast week we said to hold off on using a waiver claim on Matt Breida due to the unpredictability of his single game. If you could predict his performance against the Detroit Lions, you are either a terrible liar or have much better things to do than read this. Alfred Morris again got a marginal increase in touches over Breida at 14, but Breida is beginning to show a bit more dynamic play.11 touches is enough for me to put him in at a flex play. I’m not saying I’m 100 percent confident he’ll win me my week, but I at least know he won’t stink up the place. If Breida continues the momentum, those touches should increase. If you are desperate for a running back, Breida is a good person to use your first waiver claim on. Don’t expect him to get the lion’s share of carries against the Chiefs, but better to invest now, even if he’s on your bench. Phillip Lindsay may be the guy everyone reaches for Womens Fred Warner Jersey , but Breida could be a sneaky pick. Pick up or don’t pick up: Pick him upRobbie Gould% Owned: 61Week 2 stats: three field goals, longest: 45 yardsWeek 2 was a horrible week for kickers, so expect that waiver wire to be full of claims for the position. There is nothing short of shocking on the fact Gould still isn’t in a larger portion of Yahoo! leagues. Unlike Daniel Carlson, Zane Gonzalez, and others, Gould drained anything put in front of him, and got plenty of work as well. Gould is the pick up of the week because unlike Matt Breida, half of your league may be looking for kickers after a handful of them couldn’t even kick an extra point (I will be joining this camp as Chris Boswell is dead to me). Owners winging it will see the points Gould hauled in and no doubt put their trigger finger on him first due to the stats alone. We said get him last week, don’t waste another week on a sure thing. Of course if you listened to us and picked him up last week, you don’t have this problem now, do you? Pick up or don’t pick up: Given the performance of kickers, you may have to burn an early waiver claim, but if you want a dependable kicker, pick him up. Now. He’s not going to be available like this forever.Fool’s goldPierre Gar莽on% Owned: 76Week 2 stats: 4 Catches http:///...ell-jersey-authentic , 57 yards. Why would we put Gar莽on as fool’s gold? Well, he hasn’t done much in two games besides block for 40 yards and notch just over three quarters of a bill in yardage. Unfortunately, one of those stats (yards) matters, the other does not (at least the leagues we’re interested in). Unless you reached for him in the second round, we’re not sure what you were expecting. The Lions secondary is not as bad as you may think and the 49ers receivers were blanketed in coverage all afternoon. The 49ers will go play the Kansas City Chiefs, and while it’s a good guess KC gets the win, it’s also a good guess Gar莽onwill get plenty of action. The Chiefs secondary is not the Lions secondary and its managed to allow both the Los Angeles Chargers and Pittsburgh Steelers score points despite the Chiefs’ dominance in those games. The 49ers offense is not either of those (not even close), but expect some touchdowns to be had. Gar莽on shouldn’t be under consideration to be dropped, he should be considered for a flex play in all formats, especially since the 49ers will most likely play from behind (READ: catches). If Marquise Goodwin doesn’t suit up, that’s even more targets for Gar莽on and (and Kittle). Drop or don’t drop: Too soon to move onto other wide receivers. Don’t drop him.

Final score White Ahkello Witherspoon Jersey , recap, injury news from 49ers-Cardinals in Week 5 49ers-Cardinals final scoreThe 49ers lost by a final score of 28-18. It was a day full of bad news for San Francisco. Matt Breida suffered an ankle injury that cost him the second half of the game and his status is TBD for Week 6. C.J. Beathard was stripped twice of the ball, including one by Chandler Jones that put the Cardinals up 21-12 and effectively sealed the game. The pass catchers struggled with drops, and the offense struggled in spite of dominating time of possession and total yards gained. The 49ers drop to 1-4 with the loss, while the Cardinals improve to 1-4.Matt Breida ruled out with ankle injuryThe 49ers running back left the game in the second quarter after Budda Baker landed on his ankle during a tackle attempt. The trainers taped up Breida’s ankles, but he eventually walked to the locker room. He will not be returning, per FOX sideline reporter Jennifer Hale.Halftime score updateArizona took a 14-6 lead on a touchdown scored after a 49ers turnover. Raheem Mostert had the ball stripped inside Arizona territory with 13:27 remaining in the second quarter. Patrick Peterson picked the ball up and ran it to the 49ers 18 yard line. 4 plays later, David Johnson ran in from the two for the score.1st quarter injury updatePierre Gar莽on left the field after a couple drives and was taken to the locker room without his jersey or pads on. It is reported as a shoulder injury, and he is questionable to return. After that, Matt Breida suffered an injury when Cardinals safety Budda Baker landed on his lower leg during a tackle attempt. He limped off the field with his arms around the shoulders of a trainer and Kyle Juszczyk. He was spotted getting his ankle wrapped with more tape and is listed as questionable to return.49ers, Cardinals exchange touchdowns to open the gameMaybe we’ve got a shootout planned for Week 5 at Levi’s Stadium. The 49ers got on the board first with an impressive opening drive. C.J. Beathard completed all five of his passes for 59 yards, including a five-yard shovel pass to Matt Breida for a game-opening touchdown. Robbie Gould did not get the point after attempt off for a reason that seemed unclear. On the ensuing Cardinals drive, everything that went well for the 49ers offense went poorly for the 49ers defense. On the first play, they got no pressure on Josh Rosen, who found a wide open Christian Kirk for a 75-yard touchdown. Phil Dawson converted the extra point and Arizona leads 7-6 midway through the first quarter.InactivesThe 49ers have cornerback Richard Sherman back in action, but no wide receiver Marquise Goodwin. They will be without Jimmie Ward due to a hamstring injury, which means Ahkello Witherspoon or Greg Mabin will get the start opposite Sherman — expect some rotation between Witherspoon and Mabin. Defensive end Ryan Delaire is active after being promoted from the practice squad on Saturday. He is active over defensive tackle D.J. Jones as the 49ers look to boost the pass rush.49ers inactives: WR Marquise Goodwin, WR Dante Pettis, CB Jimmie Ward, OG Joshua Garnett, DT Jullian Taylor, OT Shon Coleman, DT D.J. JonesCardinals inactives: QB Sam Bradford, RB T.J. Logan, DE Markus Golden, OL Jeremy Vujnovich, OL Korey Cunningham, OL Blaine Clausell, DT Robert Nkemdiche49ers roll with a great end zone lookThe 49ers have a fantastic look in their end zone, going with an old school helmet look. They should roll with this more often, although a red background would be a great addition.Injury updateInactives will arrive at 11:55 a.m. PT, but in the meantime, we have pre-game injury updates. Wide receiver Marquise Goodwin is expected to be inactive with quadricep and hamstring issues. The team activated Victor Bolden from the suspended list on Saturday, which foreshadowed a potential inactive Goodwin. Cornerback Richard Sherman is expected to be active after missing last week’s game with a calf injury. He would start Youth Jimmy Garoppolo Jersey , although we don’t know who of Ahkello Witherspoon, Jimmie Ward, or Greg Mabin would start opposite Sherman.PreviewThe San Francisco 49ers are getting ready for their first divisional matchup of the year, taking on the Arizona Cardinals. This may be a bad Cardinals squad, but one that may have a step up in defense than the banged up Chargers group they recently faced. The Cardinals are looking for their first win of the season as well. This will be an afternoon game kicking off at 1:25 PM.The game will air on FOX and you can see who gets it by looking at our broadcast map. Dick Stockton and Mark Schlereth will be in the booth, while Jennifer Hale is on the sidelines. C.J. Beathard made his first start of 2018 as a surprise to everyone. He completed 62.2 percent of his passes and also was laying the ball in key positions on his receivers could get. The problem was, the receivers were not catching the ball. One such pass bounced off the hands of Garrett Celek and turned into an interception. Others were just a matter of timing things wrong from his pass catchers. Beathard also had to deal with numerous offensive line injuries as the game went on, almost getting knocked out himself on a play late in the game. The Cardinals may be a step down from the Chargers, but their defense is still no joke and the fact it’s a divisional game means it’s going to be a rough day for both teams. For Week 5, the Cardinals have been fighting their own injury issues. Wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald (hamstring) is questionable (and has been held to under 200 yards for the season). DT Robert Nkemdiche is also questionable with a foot issue. For the 49ers, wide receiver Dante Pettis (knee) is out this week. Cornerback Jimmie Ward has been listed as questionable after tweaking his hamstring Thursday. Wide Receiver Marquese Goodwin (hamstring, quad) is a game time decision. Joe Staley (knee) was quoted by Kyle Shanahan as coming to the facility early to get ready so he should be good to go Sunday. Some players will get franchised or extended but others will be hitting the open market. We’ll take a look at each position and see if any hopeful players would be a good fit for the San Francisco 49ers. The 49ers didn’t need running backs, but they are going to be in need of some guards. Be it free agency or through the draft, they are going to need some bodies. The team does have Laken Tomlinson on the left side, but that right guard spot has question marks. Joshua Garnett is still on the team, though for how long anyone can guess. Mike Person carved out a role for himself at right guard, but he’s scheduled to become a free agent. And if Person leaves, that’s a big gap to fill. And Tomlinson himself may not be safe either. Maybe the 49ers decide to get competition on both sides? Much like with fullbacks and running backs, I’m looping both left and right guards in this list and we can sort things out in the comments. There’s a lot available. For one thing, if you think the 49ers should give Marcus Martin another shot, that could be arranged (no, he’s not coming back). Zane Beadles is also on the market if you are so inclined to try him again. But to get exactly what the 49ers need, right guard is the priority. They will need a good zone-blocking guard with some speed and agility to them, which narrows the playing field a bit. The 49ers could try getting a power blocker, but it might take more time to acclimate to Shanahan’s systemMany teams will run different run-blocking schemes through a single game, but the one guy who sticks out to me that knows the Shanahan scheme is Atlanta Falcons guard Andy Levitre. Yes, he’s a bit long in the tooth and yes, he’s a left guard, but Levitre has experience in Shanahan’s offense. If the 49ers wanted to plug him in on a two-year deal for the right side (or move Tomlinson over) they could then draft a guard of the future and have them develop. Ramon Foster from the Pittsburgh Steelers is another name to keep an eye on. I don’t care about the offense over there, the Steelers run game has been dominant no matter who they put back there to carry the rock and Ben Roethlisberger has also had adequate time to throw the ball. Foster is worth a conversation even if the Steelers run a bit more of a power than zone run-blocking scheme. Finally, Tre Hopkins with the Cincinnati Bengals could be worth a look. He’s 27, plays right guard, and from what I could tell, the Bengals run the outside zone quite a bit. So maybe Hopkins could have a fit? Here’s your free agent guards per Over the Cap. Things could change with franchise tags and deals, but all of the below have contracts expiring.Would you be interested in any of these guards coming to Santa Clara? So, with that I’m taking a different approach and starting something I feel may generate some draft talk that isn’t all Steelers related. What I’m hoping to do is every three or four days put an article out in to draft for the that particular team, starting with pick No. 1 — which for now belongs to the Arizona Cardinals. A list of team needs will be taken from various sites around the web (and I may try to involve our sister sites at SB Nation on their needs) and posted in the article. There will also be a poll for voting, where I will list about 8 names for to vote on. There will be an “other” listed as well, and if that is your vote, we ask you put your selection in the comment section below. The prospect that has the most votes will be that selection for the respective team.
